Timberwood - Short Stories Edition-Vol. 9
Brett & Regina are assigned together, as a duo, to go hunt for & recruit people to join the Timberwood cult. Langston & Talorian are partnered with each other. There are some other duos & groups of people, as well.
They each get into their trucks (Brett drives a yellow F-150, while Langston drives a purple Dodge Ram) to go to parks, malls, beaches, churches, college campuses, grocery stores, restaurants, etc., trying to recruit people to join.
On one Sunday, after church, the Gastineaux couple went to a cheap corner store to get some fried chicken wings & french fries for the family, but Mr. Gastineaux was $2.19 short. Regina offered to pay for the whole meal. Afterwards, Regina, Brett, Langston & Talorian followed the couple to their 1989 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser GM, trying to manipulate the old couple, using snake oil salesman or used car salesman tactics. Mrs. Gastineaux agreed to join, saying that she thought it was a brilliant idea to help them get out of poverty, but Mr. Gastineaux saw RIGHT THROUGH THEM, & he rebuked them. He said that the Holy Spirit helped see a glaze over their eyes, that they were very dark & soulless. He said that something didn't sit right with them.
He gave them a King James Version Bible & sent them on their merry way. He yelled, "Y'all seem worse than the fake Jehovah's Witnesses! Y'all better repent & get out of that cult before it's too late."
Talorian & Brett took heed to Mr. Gastineaux's rebuke & left Timberwood, while Regina & Langston got scared & didn't want to leave. They stayed, & a week later, Talorian & Brett were mysteriously found dead. Talorian had a Bible laying next to her in her bed, while Brett was found with a noose tied around his neck, hanging from the ceiling in his garage. Someone from Timberwood killed them for leaving. Sadly, Regina & Langston stayed in the cult & were even more terrified of leaving.
Mr. Gastineaux prayed for Regina & Langston, & they eventually left the cult, & then they went to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, instead of recruiting people to join Timberwood. Timberwood wasn't happy about losing 4 of their members.
