Grooving Off the Grid

Persephone Renwick was looking to downsize. She wasn't sure if she wanted to live in a tiny house or do van life with her dog, Slime Ball. She called him "Slime Ball" because he was always drooling everywhere. She also had a pet skunk, named "Stink Ball", for obvious reasons. She eventually had help with her ex-boyfriend, Morley, to come up with the idea to build a tiny house on wheels, so that she could have the best of both worlds. They remained friends after the breakup.

Persephone had a tiny house built on the bed of a truck, & she was boondocking by the river with Slime Ball & Stink Ball. The 2 pets loved to play with each other, & they made great friends. They, as well as Persephone foraged & ate whatever food was near the river. She loved being secluded from society & enjoyed the time with her pets.

1 day, Slime Ball came back with a dead duck in his mouth, & Persephone was confused. She freaked out at first. She later skinned it, barbecued it & ate it. The whole time she was eating, Slime Ball kept crying, whining & begging for some. She thought it was so good that she was stingy with the duck. She eventually let him have the last bite.

There were 4 men fishing a 1/2 mile away, & they each were wearing old fashioned overalls & suspenders with bifocal eyeglasses. Slime Ball alerted Persephone to run over there because Stink Ball took advantage of the opportunity to run away. They had a hard time trying to find Stink Ball, & then when they finally found him, he was being roasted & eaten by the men. Persephone was upset. They apologized & didn't know that the skunk was her pet. She was DEVASTATED!

The men tried to console her, & Slime Ball was crying, whining & begging for a hug, too. They said, "Ma'am, is there anything we could do?" They tried to cheer her up, but nothing was working. They started to play the guitar, dance hilariously & sing 1 of her favorite songs, & that cheered her up. She rejected their offer for beer. They shared the fish dinner with her & her dog.

Later on, after they left, she was lying in bed. A tear streamed down her right eye. Slime Ball was hollering & crying all night long. Slime Ball missed his best friend.

About a month later, the same 4 men came by with a surprise. They made Slime Ball open it. He was ecstatic, but confused to see what he initially thought was 10 new versions of Stink Ball. Instead, it registered to him that those were 10 new pet squirrels. He finally had not 1, but 10 new friends to play with.
