Donovan & some of his college football colleagues planned for something special to do for Spring Break, as a reward for winning the championship. Donovan wanted to be different from the rest. He wanted to go somewhere quiet, instead of rowdy like Miami. His friends called him lame.
Maximus was calling around various hotel & motel rooms, & everything was booked. They pooled together to take a trip out of town. They went camping, instead. Everyone was sort of disappointed, except for Donovan.
The guys went to Cabela's to buy the camping equipment. They walked into the store, goofing around & acting stupid, but at least they weren't acting rowdy. Dominic turned to Donovan & said, "You're making the right decision. It's not worth it to go to jail over something stupid. Even if you did something stupid, but didn't go to jail, you don't want to feel like a fool, years later. I mean, what if I have children some years down the line, & they see that on social media, the metaverse, or whatever else kind of future internetting there might be?"
The crew laughed out loud at Dominic saying, "internetting". They got whatever they needed & then went to the checkout. Evan kept trying to flirt at Mila Jade, the cashier. Her name tag said, "Mila Jade". Mila Jade was having a rough day at work. Evan was trying to cheer her up. She blew him off after ringing up everyone's items & giving them their receipts. Evan walked off, screaming, "Jesus loves you more than I ever could! He'll cheer you up more than I ever could! I still love you & wish I could be there for you!" His worldly friends laughed & thought he was crazy & making an embarrassment out of the whole clique.
They all drove to a restaurant, called "Country Belly", which serves a mixture of seafood, soul food & redneck food. They got out of their trucks, & then Isaac almost accidentally stepped on a possum that Donovan almost ran over. The possum was underneath Donovan's truck. Maximus killed the poor thing right on the spot, & then declared it as tomorrow's dinner. Evan, the geek, said, "Aww, man! You make me almost want to become a vegetarian. You killed that thing so cruelly & inhumanely."
Maximus said, "You've been watching too much 'Forks Over Knives', huh? Boy, I told you to stay off of Netflix." Everyone laughed & then went inside to eat.
There was a food shortage, so the restaurant wasn't getting enough supplies. There was limited staff, & only 1 entree was being served. They had all the salads, desserts & drinks available, though. The guys ordered the Hillbilly Slap Ya Mama Casserole with a side of garden salad. It was basically a layered casserole with seasoned collard greens & bacon at the bottom, macaroni & cheese layered on top, black eyed peas on top of the Mac & cheese, & a mixture of shredded BBQ chicken & beef brisket on top of that, with baked cornbread on top of that, topped with sweet candied yams. You would've thought it was nasty, until you tried it. Even before the shortage, it was the restaurant's #1 award-winning sold out, best-selling item. It was good enough that you didn't even need dessert. The guys ordered & ate double portions & then left.
They did some Walmart shopping. Afterwards, they checked into a campground. Maximus took that possum & started grilling it that night.
"What'cha gots'ta say now, EVAN?", he asked. Evan just put his head down in embarrassment. After Maximus got done grilling & barbecuing the possum, he told Evan to taste test it. Evan thought it tasted so good that he ate the whole thing & left nothing else for the other guys. After all, they weren't mad. They thought it was hilarious.
They shared 2 tents to cut down on costs, instead of them each having their own individual tent. Besides, no women were camping with them. No girlfriends, wives or fiancee's. They practiced & played football all night until they were worn out & went to sleep. They were awakened the next morning because the state troopers found them & arrested Maximus. Maximus had a warrant out for his arrest, & nobody else knew why. So, the rest of the guys became frustrated, packed up & went back home.
