Damaris & Misael are expecting their first baby. Damaris wants the baby's gender to be a mystery. Misael adamantly wants a BOY! He insists on having a gender reveal party, but Damaris is against it. Misael thought that, whoever this future baby is, is very excited while inside the womb.
The time has come. Damaris gave an at home water birth to a healthy baby girl, named Perla. Spanish for Pearl. She came out, looking like a beautiful little jewel. Fearfully & wonderfully made. After her initial crying, the first thing she did was hold her grandmother's finger SO tight & then smiled!
Misael was a little upset at first, but then he quickly learned to be happy with having a girl. He thought that he could have a boy the next time.
As time progressed, Baby Perla smiled everywhere she went. The the only time she cried was when she was hungry, tired or needed a diaper change. It wasn't hard to make Baby Perla smile.
Perla's grandmother made her a headband with a lot of pearls on it. & then she started making outfits adorned with pearls. Pearls were even glued to her shoes when she became a year old & started walking. Baby Perla was still smiling.
By the time Perla was 20 years old, she was always smiling at work. She still wore her grandmother's headbands everywhere. Every Sunday for church, she was always wearing dresses adorned with pearls. She even smiled at the grocery store. She smiled while running errands or paying bills. She smiled while taking the transit bus to the library. She just smiled everywhere.
