From Homeless To Hopeful

Nickayla & her family went on a week long vacation just before school started back up again. She was not ready to go to 4th grade, but she missed her friends. Especially, her best friend, Bessie. Bessie is her bestie. Bessie the bestie.

When Nickayla & her family got back home, they discovered that the entire apartment building was being demolished. The forklifts & bulldozers were already there, scraping up all of the debris. Unfortunately, the family never got any closure on why the building was SUDDENLY gone. They lost EVERYTHING! All they had was whatever they bought on vacation. They were forced to go find a cheap motel to live in for a couple of days, in a sketchy area. In the motel lobby, there was an ad for a homeless outreach event at the community center that was supposed to go on, the following Saturday afternoon.

Nickayla's family was grateful for the outreach event because it could help them get free food to eat, toiletries, haircuts, hairstyles, clothing, health checkups, free back to school supplies for the children, & more. They received the Gospel & started feeling like they found peace & contentment with their situation. The new acceptance with having to live in the family van for an indefinite amount of time. They found that van life gave them more freedom & flexibility than apartment living. They just sometimes had to deal with occasional inconveniences. The parents decided to pull the children out of public schools & started homeschooling them.

They realized a new meaning to the cliche' phrase, "Everything happens for a reason." Their situation helped them get closer to God.
