You would think that Elias Campbell is up to no good, but he isn't. He's 85 years old, but is VERY able-bodied, fit & swift with everything. He swims laps fast, eats fast, drives his old Volkswagen Beetle very fast, runs fast, talks fast, etc. The man has SO much physical energy that people wonder why he isn't in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the fastest man in the world at everything he does, at such an old age. People bet that Elias could beat Forrest Gump, Woody Woodpecker or a cheetah in a race.
Elias has always lived a cheerful, carefree, happy-go-lucky life. Drama is so foreign to him. Sure he would get made fun of here & there, but his skin is tougher than chewing goat meat. He was more of a sticks & stones man, even though the Bible says that words DO hurt.
One day, Elias went to the Senior Center on Gulf Blvd. People were shocked that a man so old was flying down the highway. He didn't get caught or get a ticket. When he got out of the car, everyone was amazed & thought that it was a 19-year old ruthless thug or something. All he needed was the loud music of Tekashi 69, Travis Scott, or Blue Face. But instead, he was blaring Roy Orbison's album, "The Fastest Guitar Alive", on repeat.
1 of the members at the Senior Center, Grace, was very worried about him. She warned him about speeding so much. She didn't want him to have a ticket or an accident. She also informed him about the red light cameras. She jokingly gave him the nickname, "Mr. Fuge", as in "wanted fugitive".
After some time, reality struck. That Elias could no longer do things as swiftly as he had been doing all his life. His cognition started to deteriorate. He could no longer drive a car, run, swim or do anything. Fast or slow.
One day, Elias died quietly & peacefully in his sleep. It was shocking & sad news for everyone. By that time, he was 89 years old. Everyone at the Senior Center mourned. His wife, Beverly, wished for his funeral to be held at the Senior Center. Everyone gathered to say their last goodbye's. It was so sad.
