Nelson dreaded packing up for his trip. He just heard that his sister, Samera, was pregnant, & he wanted to be there in time for the baby's birth. He's disabled on a fixed income & can't drive. So, he can't rent a car. He doesn't have enough money to take a plane. Just like everyone else, he HATES having to take the Greyhound bus! He thinks the trip is worth it, because he loves & supports his sister & her husband so much. They're all excited for the new baby. Nelson is praying that he gets there in time, hoping that there are no bus delays. He's traveling from Mesa, Arizona to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Nelson arrived at the bus station & checked his bags. He sat down to read a few newspapers that some people had left. There was a homeless man who plopped into a seat behind him, spilling some coffee. Then, the homeless man started sucking & smacking the drink very loud. After that, he kept burping, like as if he had GERD.
Nelson wondered, "Who's this weird bozo with a strong, putrid smell?"
The homeless man said, "Why? What do I smell like?"
Nelson told him, "No comment!", & got up & sat somewhere else.
It was time to line up for the bus ride. Nelson walks with a limp because 1 leg is longer than the other. He had to get a little bit of assistance with getting on the bus. The front of the seats were filled up with people more disabled than him, & also some elderly. They even had a wheelchair boarder. Nelson was suck out of luck. The bus was full of passengers, & he had no choice but to go sit in the back, right next to the bathroom. The only seat left was next to the homeless man. The homeless man smelled like STRONG mildew, ketchup & rotten eggs. Mainly, his clothes.
There was a passenger who must've had the stomach bug, because that woman was making diarrhea & stinking up the bus for nearly the whole ride. There was also a toddler having a tantrum the whole ride, someone blasting loud music, & someone snoring the whole ride. There was also a creepy guy sexually harassing & trying to get fresh with a woman who CLEARLY wasn't interested. Nelson didn't know which was worse. He found the trip to be both comical & annoying.
Nelson finally got off the bus, feeling a sigh of relief; only to find out that his 2nd bus was 5 hours late, due to a breakdown. He went to a nearby hotel to rest up, shower & change clothes. You would've thought he had OCD. He ate breakfast & made it just in time for his next bus. The journey took a day longer than expected.
He finally arrived in Pittsburgh. His brother-in-law, Steve, took him to the hospital STRAIGHTAWAY, as soon as he got off the bus. Nelson was telling Steve his horrifying bus experience. Steve told him that once he sees the baby, the bad bus experience would be a forgotten memory. & it was.
Samera was in the midst of pushing out the baby as soon as Nelson arrived. Nelson exclaimed, "Man, oh man! Oh, man! Oh, man! Oh, man! I just made it in the NICK of time!"
The baby boy, Rowen, came out bald & ruddy. Screaming & crying from the top of his lungs. 8 lbs., 1 oz. & 21 inches. Nelson was so overjoyed about Rowen that he really did forget about that horrifying bus experience.
