Mercedes, a native of Cancun, Mexico, decided to take a trip to the United States (specifically New Orleans) with her son, Matthew. She was excited to attend the French Quarter Festival. She had all her paperwork & proper documents together. Her trip was LOVELY! She & her son had a BLAST!
Once she got to the airport to travel back home to Cancun, she couldn't find her passport anywhere in her duffle bag. As a result, her child was taken, & she was deported back to Cancun without him. It wasn't until AFTER she got back to Cancun, & she did a lot of praying, that she eventually found her passport & documents snuggled inside of the page of 2nd Corinthians Chapter 4 in her Bible. She still couldn't get her son back. She was a law abiding, respectful citizen. She grieved & prayed for years.
Her son, Matthew, had a rough childhood in foster care, & then ended up at Covenant House on Rampart St. in New Orleans, once he got out of foster care. It was there, where he met his best friend, Cornelius (who also aged out of foster care). Cornelius was 'bout as BLACK as you could get! Matthew & Cornelius were running around, looking like vanilla & chocolate. The women loved them!
A few decades later, Mercedes was granted the opportunity to go back to New Orleans again. Miraculously, she found her precious son! They were able to reunite. She met her grandchildren & spent some time with them. Bonded with them.
One day, she sadly passed away from old age. Matthew took it very hard. He said that he wanted to go with his mom. What an unfortunate coincidence that he, his mom, & his unborn baby all passed away on the same day!
