Handprints In The Mud

Johnson Spencer, a 10-year old soccer player, suffered a severe concussion after 2 of his teammates accidentally fell on top of his head during a game on a rainy day. His hands hit the muddy grass first. The coach called for timeout, so that an ambulance can be called. Johnson was unresponsive. Everyone was frantic.

The paramedics took a long time to arrive. People in the audience were praying. After 45 minutes, they finally came. Johnson was rushed to the hospital. 1 of his best friends, known as "Baby DJ", begged to get into the ambulance with him & wouldn't take "NO" for an answer. Johnson was like Baby DJ's big brother. Baby DJ had a HUGE hissy fit, & rightfully so. It took a lot to console Baby DJ & let him ride in his parents' car, while they followed the ambulance to the hospital, right along with Johnson's own parents & siblings.

The nurse sent for Johnson to get some CT scans. Sad news, is that Johnson needed to be put on life support. Yes, it was THAT BAD! The doctor was pessimistic & feared that Johnson wasn't going to make it. He said that Johnson appeared to be brain dead.

Someone from the local church reminded Johnson's family of the "Footprints in the Sand" poem, & 1 of the 1st thoughts that came to innocent Baby DJ's mind was Johnson's "Handprints in the Mud". Both Johnson's family & Baby DJ's family prepared for the bereavement. Johnson was pronounced dead. Everyone broke down. It was SO sad!

Baby DJ had a reputation for being extremely talented with drawing. Instead of a poem, he drew a picture of a depiction of Johnson's handprints in the mud. He was able to get T-shirts made, with the drawing.

A week later, the funeral was held outside at the park, right behind where the incident occurred. Shockingly, Johnson's handprints were still there. The mud had dried up, & it was also crispy & sunny outside. No humidity, whatsoever.

After the funeral, burial & repast, it rained later that evening. & after the rain, 10 randomly selected members of the team made a circle with their handprints in the mud, around Johnson's handprints. Baby DJ was coincidentally 1 of the 10 selected members.

After everything wrapped up, a new college soccer scholarship was created, called the "Johnson Spencer's Handprints in the Mud" scholarship that's $10,000. 10 years later, guess who was 1 of the recipients of that scholarship. None other than Baby DJ. & Baby DJ also won a full scholarship for his artwork, right upon graduation from high school.
