Timberwood: Short Stories Edition - Vol. 49
Dirk Davis grew up in an unusual household in the fake Mormon cult. He was born & raised in it. It was what he was raised to believe is "normal". Because of the cult, both of his parents were strange. His siblings conformed & complied, but his adoptive sister, Jamie, NEVER complied or conformed. Sadly, that's why she received the most abuse. He was even used to do hurtful things to Jamie, & he was the black sheep of his birth siblings.
Jamie ran away at 14 (almost 15) because she was tired of the cult abuse, & then she ended up being trafficked. She somehow broke away & went to college. During college, she unknowingly joined another cult, which was Timberwood. Later on, Dirk joined, as well. Dirk's entire family ended up joining, & they were part of 2 cults.
After years of the mind control, weirdness & abuse, Jamie got out of Timberwood & began to be vocal & outspoken. She vowed to never go back to either cult, & she doesn't miss them one bit!
One day, she crossed paths with her old trafficker & also, Dirk. The trafficker was confronted about what he did to Jamie, & a vigilante found out about it & took the law into his own hands. As a result, the trafficker is no longer alive. Dirk & everyone was devastated.
Dirk did some reflection after he apologized to Jamie for all the wrong that he was mind controlled into doing to her when they were younger. She forgave him & warned him about both Timberwood & the fake Mormon cult. She also directed him towards the King James Version Holy Bible. He said, "Lord, please open my eyes to anything perverse that I'm doing, that's not of You." The more he read the Bible, the more he realized how wrong he was living. He felt like he couldn't live with himself after Jamie encouraged him to let the Bible, itself, expose both cults. 2 things he had trouble breaking away from, were the money & also the promiscuous lifestyle with women. He's now 51 years old. Jamie is 46.
Jamie had ZERO issues with walking away from it all, but Dirk struggled for a few weeks & feared becoming homeless. One day, he woke up & said, "Man, I ain't 'fraid of nuttin'!" & he also began being very vocal & outspoken about both cults. Strangely, he said that even though he was in the Mormon cult as a child & Timberwood as an adult, he felt like Timberwood psychologically damaged him the most. He was too ashamed to say why.
It wasn't the Mormon cult, but it was the fake Timberwood cult that had its members to be used as pawns/puppets/flying monkeys to abuse & gang stalk him by proxy. He said that he's not afraid to die. He even gave up the women & the money & said that it's not worth his soul. He's a fighter, & he isn't backing down. I wonder how many more people will develop the courage to wake up to the truth & walk away from that stronghold.
