The family's van broke down & was in the mechanic shop. The 5-year old twins, Jaslyn & Jamari were riding on the public transit bus with their parents, Haruko & Kimo. They were crossing the river. They were fascinated by the water glistening from the sun.
Jamari said, "Ooh, Daddy! Can we do this every day?"
Kimo asked, "Do what, Baby Girl?"
Jaslyn chimed in & said, "Ride the bus & see the water."
They both had sad puppy dog expressions on their faces, trying to be very convincing of what they were requesting. They even tried to drag their 4-year old little brother, JayJay, into the mix, & he wasn't having it. He wanted NO PARTS! He was just minding his lil' 'ol business. He must've been afraid that he was going to get in trouble.
Instead of them riding every day, the family began a weekly habit of riding the van on the free ferry every Saturday, once the van got fixed. Oh, yes. Like the nostalgic olden days. They were able to ride back & forth all day, every Saturday, for about 2 hours in the morning, right after sunrise. & later, they would eat brunch & then go to the movies. They loved comedy movies, so they could laugh. Laughter is the best medicine for the soul, right?
After the movies, they would ride the train to dinner & see more fascinating water & then go back to the van to go back home. There was a free park & ride at the train station. The kids loved to see the moon & the stars shining so bright over the lake. They didn't know what mesmerized them more. The bus & the sun over the river, or the train, moon & stars over the lake. They liked the best of both worlds.
One Sunday, after church, the kids wanted to surprise Momma & Daddy & draw pictures. They grabbed some crayons, & it wasn't scribble scratch. The pictures looked too decent to be drawn by 4- & 5-year olds. They loved the scenery so much that they put their ALL into drawing & coloring the pictures!
JayJay ran into the kitchen during Sunday dinner & said, "Momma. Daddy. Look!"
Kimo responded, "What 'chu got there, Baby Boy?"
JayJay said, "Look what me, Jam & Jas drew!"
Kimo was shocked. He thought that Haruko drew it & tried to have the kids to pull his leg. He didn't realize that those babies were SO talented! Yes, HIS babies! The drawing was used in an art museum & also won lots of awards. Those babies were SET FOR LIFE, with residual income, from 1 drawing!
When they grew up, they decided that they never wanted to drive. They wanted to ride the bus, train & ferry every day, & drawing new pictures. All 3 of them had careers as professional artists. Drawing for a living.
